Morrisey: your arsenal. I only like Morrissey because of my dad, if it were not for him I would have never heard of Morrissey. This album was released in July 27 1992 in the UK. Genre: alternative rock. Your gonna need someone on your side: this has an amazing bass line it's got quite a deep tone to it too and the lyrics are great. Glamorous Glue: beat is good and got quite a catchy rhythm too. I like the tempo of the lyrics and the way they set it out it's like a word to each beat on the drum or bass. We'll let you know: starts off with a good acoustic guitar rhythm. The lyrics a good but a ... Read the complete review

Your Arsenal was first released by Morrissey in July 1992. The album had a more aggressive, distorted glammy sound than previous Morrissey work and was produced by Mick Ronson. Your Arsenal was generally seen as a return to form by the singer after the lukewarm reception to his previous album 'Kill Uncle'. You're Gonna Need Someone On Your Side The glam feel of the album is evident on the first song which strives to be a glammy stomper although a rockabilly element is present. It's a decent enough song but nothing special and lacks an immediate chorus. In typical Morrissey fashion the song details his urge to ... Read the complete review

At the time of release of Your Arsenal, things were less than sunny in the world of Morrissey. His previous album, Kill Uncle, had been mauled by the critics and it seemed that if it had the great man's name attached, it was worthy of ridicule. In addition to this, the NME had taken a particularly malicious slant against Morrissey and declared that Your Arsenal was thick with racism and prehistoric views. One has to admit that Morrissey does little to avoid controversy, especially with song titles such as The National Front Disco, but as ever with Mozz it's more an observation of society than personal opinion. Anyone listening to the album will find such powerful ... Read the complete review

'Your Arsenal', which is one of Stephen Morrissey's best releases(solo-wise, at least), is a surprising little gem of a record; it actually harkens back to the later years of the Smiths when they experimented with the Bolan-esque glam displayed in such singles as 'Sheila take a Bow' and 'I started Something I couldn't Finish'. It is a masterful blend of such glam rock(no doubt due to producer Mick Ronson's input of course) and rockabilly- Morrissey even utilizes a stand-up bassist here! Lyrically, it IS still weak however. It continues 'Kill Uncle's triteness and Morrissey should shoulder the blame for this pure ... Read the complete review

In my view Your Arsenal is one of Morrissey's finest albums and ranks second, behind Vauxhall And I, of all his albums. The album covers ground over a multitude of styles all done to perfection and in the traditional Morrissey style. The album ranges from deep and quite heavy for Morrissey tracks to Smiths style jangle pop to the slower ballads. You're Gonna Need Someone On Your Side is a lively, quite heavy opener to the album and sets the tone for the rest of the album. This is followed by Glamourous Glue and We'll Let You Know, neither of which are anything special. The album kicks into live on the next track with the fantastic National Front Disco, although often ... Read the complete review
