Youth Novels - Lykke Li

I found this album by chance on spotify and immediately was drawn in by some of the tracks. Normally i do not like female singers and barely have any in my record collection but Lykke Li's soft tones and quirky lyrics really appealed to me. The songs are all fairly understated that provide a soft platform that really suits her voice, most of the songs also contain a catchy chorus that tends to stick in your mind but not in an annoying way. These songs are good to relax to and are good to have playing in the background as they will suit your mood. Recently I came to a realisation. My music collection mainly consists of music by male solo artists and bands fronted by men. This was worrying, how could I possibly be a traitor to my own gender? Unknowingly, I rarely ever feel the need to listen to the vocals of the fairer sex, unless I've just been dumped in which case I listen to nothing but Fiona Apple but that's another story in itself.
