Even though you've probably never heard of it, the Ashton Court Festival is the biggest free festival in Europe and around 100,000 people come every year to the Ashton Court Estate in Bristol to enjoy a wonderful couple of days. The reason no one knows about it is that the organisers do not advertise it outside the south-west for fear of being swamped. (they may not thank me for writing this) As it is, the last few years have seen just about capacity crowds anyway so its just as well, and to be honest, most prefer it that way. This really aims to be and does indeed feel like a family and community festival; there is loads for the young uns to get stuck into if you decide to take them along. A really enjoyable weekend, set in the gorgeous surroundings of Ashton Court, I can't wait to pack my bags and head west from London come friday night.
