Advantages: Very compact

Disadvantages: None really

Yes, this festival is nice and compact and you do not need your car once you get on site, there is provision for your tent or caravan only seconds away from all the venues.
How?
The whole festival is held in one of the high schools in Chorley and the classrooms host the artists. You only need to walk from the playing field to the school, a matter of no more than a few yards really, then you are in.
Food! there is some available from a burger bar outside or a limited choice also from within.
Artists last year were superb with such as Vin Garbutt, Jane and Amanda T, Sara Grey, Martyn Wyndham-Read, Keith Kendrick and so on - excellent folk singers.
The weekend ticket was not expensive, as I remember it was only about £12 or so but that is if my memory serves me well.
The one problem is that it is sort of in the centre of Chorley and if you don't get your directions right first time then it is difficult for a person like me who even though I have had a caravan for 25 years still can't manouvre it at the best of times in a field let alone a busy town centre.

Give it a try, why don't you?

Well this year it is going to be even better.

Cockersdale are there, so are Derek Gifford, Les Barker, Th'Antiques Roadshow, Sarah Morgan, Tom McConville, Pete Coe, and the simply FABULOUS DAVE WEBBER AND ANNIE FENTIMAN.
HOW CAN YOU JUSTIFY NOT GOING TO THIS I DO NOT KNOW.
The cost is a measly £28 for the full weekend so come on now, dig into your pockets and make this one NOT TO MISS.

I have just returned from the 2001 Chorley Folk Festival and I can tell you it has been brilliant. I did tell you not to miss this one and if you did then tut tut, you missed a treat.
Fantastic performers and all under one roof. The quality of stewarding was first class (an area not to be forgotten) and there was ample parking for all.
Good weather and outdoor dancing with Morris Dancers from all over
the country.
Well done to all the organisers on a splendid festival and a down to earth price of only £28 for the full season ticket.
By the way, not once was I asked to produce evidence of a ticket, honesty prevails at these functions don't you know.

I am back again in 02
