Advantages: not paying for ticket, secure area for tent, 24hour beer tent in our field.

Disadvantages: tiredness, not getting to see all the bands you want

Okay, you'll have probably checked out the others in this category, but I actually worked Glastonbury. This was, although a little off- putting, one of the best ways to see a festival. I was stewarding at the acoustic tent, so for those of you who may have seen me- hey!!! The shifts were two a day for crew members, consisting of 3 and 3 and half hours, and for their guests one shift at 3 and a half hours. This package deal, included a secure area for your tent, always useful to stop the added fear of tent stealing, three meals a day for the crew members (they worked more overall) and your ticket free!!! This may not seem a lot at first, but when you quickly discover that there is a 24 hour beer tent in your field the prospect of working doesn't seem soooo bad. This tent served the nastiest ale you will ever come across- Spingo if you've heard of it congratulations, tasted it??? bad luck!!! This isn't a review of the festival, cos there was so much there, and so much I missed through the lack of time, and working (that's a down side). But to anyone who gets the opportunity to work any of the festivals, even if it's litter- picking- DO IT !!!!! I got to be pleasantly surprised by many unknown acts, or people i hadn't heard of, but strangely knew their songs- it truly is worth the hassle. We, as stewards, got to sit around by the numerous exits, watching bands, but with the smug knowledge that we didn't pay for it!!! Which was especially reassuring when we turned up to a muddy field!! (One of my friends paid £180 for her and her boyfriend to go- not worth it.)The other down side to working it was that you get so incredibly tired it's unbeliveable- but still a FANTASTIC experience.
