Within the last 2 years i have discovered one of the most influencial bands. Their music takes a hold of you and embraces with its originality and depth. I am of course talking about Idlewild! The remote part is their new album following on from 100 Broken windows. If you have ever listened to 100 broken windows and appreciated it by listening to it repeatedly then you may have had the same apprehensions as myself as to what The remote part may sound like and whether it could possibly live up to their previous album which was truly stunning! Thursday 18th April: Idlewild (supported by Ikara Colt) The moment I heard Ikara Colt were supporting Idlewild at the Pyramids Centre in Portsmouth, I knew it would be a good night. Not only were a band at the forefront of the indie-rock scene headlining, but possibly the next Strokes were supporting! However, halfway through Ikara’s support slot and the crowd were still uneasy; not knowing whether to mosh, or just stand around and offer the occasional applause. Luckily, this soon changed with the opening to the supreme Sink Venice, as the crowd simply erupted into a sea of bodies, springing off one another. Better late than never. ...

In February my friend Katie asked me if I wanted to go and see idlewild in concert. Her boyfriend had in previous months made a tape of one of their albums, ‘100 Broken Windows’. I had only heard one of their songs but I thought it would be fun. I love seeing live music and if nothing it would be a fun night out. We booked the tickets, which were £12.50 excluding book free and sat down on our computers and downloaded. I found a few songs I really liked but I didn’t really feel excited.
