the Queen Margaret Union at Glasgow Uni is one of the universities two unions. It hosts many live bands and DJ's and themed nights. It is not just for students that attend the univeristy, although if you are not a member you will pay a higher price, and in some cases be refused etry if nearing compacity. The QMU is not only a great place to see up and coming bands but also for relaxing, there are three floors here, the bottom floor is where the music events are held and is also home to the union shop. Stuff the Barrowlands (which is still a good place) the best place to hear live music is by far Queen Margarets Union in Glasgow. i'm a big fan of small, intimate venues where you can get near the front without being killed, but not so small that you can spit from one side of the floor to the other (King Tuts for example) and QMU fits the bill perfectly. I have seen two bands play at QMU so far, and can't wait to go back to see more. Of course, the review is about the venue, not the bands, but both Hundred Reasons and the Vines were bloody excellent if anyones asking.
