It even devoted time to poetry where anyone could go and read his/her poems or read out favourites, I thought this was fantastic because poetry seems to be taking a backstage position in the folk scene I think. Main venue was the Town Hall and was comfortable with seating for all who came. Price was around £20 per person if I remember right and was well worth it for the weekend. Uppermill is also a nice little place to visit with its quaint shops and setting. One problem I did find though .. finding the place itself was a nightmare. Uppermill in Saddleworth is the venue for this folk festival and while it may not be the biggest festival, some might even say "Where's Uppermill?" I can assure you thay you will get a warm welcome here. The artists booked in 2000 when I went there were excellent and there were events going on in most of the pubs and clubs.
