Thunder 2006 liveNewest Review: ... night gremlins hit early on, rendering Morley’s’ guitar inaudible and taking the sting out of set opener Back Street Symphony. In fact, the sound took a minute or two to settle in. Thunder introduced the new album, Robert Johnsons Tombstone, with several tracks and very good they were too, sounding like the stuff from the first two albums. Are Thunder trying to get back a little of the vigour of youth? If they are, they’ve failed. Thunder live now is no substitute for the live Thunder of yore that I saw opening for Aerosmith in ‘89. Oh No. The Whoopers Are In Again, And This Time They’ve Got Their Lighters. Thunder. Plymouth Pavilions, Wednesday, 15/11/06. Support - Vitriolic. £18.50 per ticket plus booking fee. Right then, let’s get the support band out of the way first shall we? One name: Rage Against The Machine. Vitriolic sounded very much like a bunch of RATM wannabes. Moreover, their songs seemed to be little more than variations on Killing In The Name Of. Thunder, so I’ve heard, are using different support acts as they go around the country. Very commendable.
