V2001 (Chelmsford)Newest Review: ... to it that you can easily sleep through it. The bonuses from camping are that you really get a feel for the atmosphere of the festival and can easily make friends. We're hoping to meet up with a few people from 2001 this year. You can get a free bus into town to stock up on supplies (we did that just once all weekend for 4 of us) and when you are stocked up, we found security to be excellent. We left things lying around and nothing was moved at all. I'm sure isola ted incidents occur but with 30,000 people in one area it has to be expected. If you... more |

After attending the V2001 festival in Chelmsford, and reading some of the other reviews on here about it, I thought I should add my voice. Read on, and hopefully I'll see you at V2002! ¬¬¬¬What is it, Steve?¬¬¬¬ The festival is staged over 3 days. Beginning on a Friday and finishing on the Sunday, though Friday has no performers - it's just a chance to get your tent set up and to test your cooking equipment/beer capacity. V2001 was held at two sites, and I'm going to be talking about the Chelmsford one. The play-list for the weekend is identical at each site (more or less) so you'll not miss anything through my one-sided op. V2001 ... Read the complete review

This summer I've tried to fit in as many gigs and festivals as I could (afford) with my friends. I went to the Day at the Races, to see the Stereophonics, and I had Reading Festival lined up for the weekend after this. I could only afford to attend one day of V-2001, the tickets priced at £40-ish for a day, plus eating/travel expenses. I wanted to save my money for the weekend after. We chose to go on the Sunday to Chelmsford, because it was the most convinient day for everyone to travel on. The selection of bands was reasonable on both days. The saturday looked quite good, I missed two bands that I still really want to see (Ben Folds, and ... Read the complete review

V2001 Chelmsford - Too many adverts, logos. Not enough freaky people. Nice big trees. Too much rain. The mud wasn't that bad, considering the amount of rain. Didn't feel like a festival, just a place to watch bands, but the music was excellent. Food/drink's expensive. You can't take your own drink in. Here's my list of the acts I saw in order of impressiveness.... Alabama 3 - The most stylish act at V2001 - dressed in designer suits, shades, cool hats, purple shirts and peroxide hair. The mock-religious sermonising is at the heart of their act, all performed in a "country/acid house/blues" style as they put it. The ... Read the complete review

V2001... What a weekend it was for all of the festivalgoers that trekked around in the mud for 2 days in Hylands Park in Chelmsford. I myself attended this festival for the 1st time this year. Unusual you may think because I am an actual Chelmsford resident so the festival is right on my doorstep. Here is a review and a guide to the show, what was on, how to get there and other general talking points. V2001. Hosted by Virgin, the V shows bring together the cream of Rock, dance, indie and Pop music and put them on 2 stages and various tents. The shows have got bigger and bigger for the last 6 years. It is held in 2 ... Read the complete review

Last year, I can’t remember why, I didn’t go to V2000 (probably mainly because I didn’t think much of the line up) but two of my friends, Ali and George (who to avoid later confusion I’ll point out now are both girls) did go and had a great time. This summer, obviously, they wanted to go again – although we considered Reading – but we decided Sunday’s V2001 bill was the best bet. Unfortunately the two of them were on holiday together in Devon the week before the festival (only coming back Saturday evening, which is why we only went Sunday) so despite the fact Ali was supposedly organising the trip, very little was ...
