Cheap nappies - cheap for a reason

Advantages: Cheaper than any other brands
Disadvantages: Not the best
As every mum out there on a budget knows nappies can be very expensive.
I usually buy Tesco's own brand of nappies as I have tried many over the last 3 1/2 years and found these to be the best value for money. Asda's own leave gel/crystals on baby if left on wet too long, and since changing the design about 2 years ago pop open at the drop of a hat, I'm just not generally keen on Huggies as they feel too bulky and Pampers are great but expensive.
Anyway, trying to cut down on our food bill at the moment I was shopping at Aldi when I spotted their own brand nappies. I pay around £7.29 for 56 nappies in Tesco, but the Mamia nappies were around £5.50 for 50 nappies, great I thought almost £2 of savings.
I picked up a packet to try them out, I could only find one review on the inter-net about them and it said they were as good as brand name nappies so how could I lose?
They look just like pampers nappies, the tabs (velcro type material) are really enclosed into the nappy so they take a little while to fold out, they seem to be a bit hit and miss with some of them sticking really tight and others flying off. The first night I used them on my 16 month old his nappy ended up in the bottom of his sleeping bag (he is a master at stripping off though!). The nappies have a picture of a frog on the front which is the same on every nappy in the pack.
Ok, so maybe I will just use them during the day to avoid night time accidents? At first they seemed really good, however, once my little one has had a wee they lose their shape really quickly. They sag between the legs terribly and when you take them off they lose their shape altogether if wet. If only soiled they are ok, they hold in the smell as well as any other nappy I have tried. The leg cuffs seem tight enough without being too restrictive and I have had no poo down the leg incidents yet!
I would not really recommend these unless you are on such a small budget that you have no other alternative, personally I will be going back to Tesco as I think the extra £2 is well worth it.
Summary: If you have to these will do, but Tesco are better quality!
