There is plenty to do and see in Al Ain. It's a popular weekend spot for people from Abu Dhabi and Dubai, especially in the hot summer months when the dry desert air of Al Ain is more bearable than the humidity on the coast. Make sure you drive the top of Jebel Hafeet for a spectacular mountain top sunset. Just after you turn off the Ayn al Fayda road and before you start to climb up the mountain you will see a huge fountain on your right. This is a nice place for an evening picnic.
