I stayed in Albena with my boyfriend in 2004 and was the worst holiday I have every been on. We went in early June and the weather was terrible. The hotel we stayed in a was perfectly fine, but we hated the resort, sadly. I must say, the beach was fantastic - long and sandy, and really beautiful. Our hotel was in the hills, which meant we had to walk down god knows how many steps to get into the resort. So we were shattered by the time we got there. We found there was very little to do in the evenings and ended up in bed fairly early every night. The bars were quiet and very lifeless, and there just seemed very little to ... Albena is, without doubt, the most attractive of the Black Sea resorts. It may not be ‘blessed’ with a name like Golden Sands or Sunny Beach, but its wide 7km long clean sandy beach would suit either name. However, unlike the bland resorts to the south, Albena has a much friendlier and modern character. You should choose your hotel location with care. With over 200 steps up to hotels on the top road, such as the Avrora where we stayed, a degree of activeness may be needed. For the less active there is a frequent, very cheap road train that runs continuously up and down from early morning to late evening, or you could choose one of the many hotels ...
