Advantages: So beutiful
Disadvantages: You have to go home.
As a Ski destination Jasper has a lot to offer. The small and friendly town site is nestled in a most beutiful part of the rockies, Within Jasper National park. There is a good choice of good quality hotels which can be very cheep if booked on various special offers in winter, which is there quiet season. Jasper Park Lodge is a very good hotel. part of the Canadian Pacific chain, and is worth a visit from non guests to partake in cross country sking, or ice skating on one of the two frozen yet groomed lakes. Marmot Basin is a 20 min bus trip away and is an ideal resort for a cautious intermediate skier. The slopes are very wide and empty, and there are very few lift lines. Other activities I tried were dog sledding- 3 hours in charge of your on modern sled and 8 dogs. In Jasper there is a small cinema, large indoor swimming pool, sport centre a few shops and some great restaurants. Try Andys Bistro for very fine dining at great prices. Once you have been to Jasper its quiet townsite will work its magnetism on you and you will have to return someday.
