Advantages: Perfect for families

Disadvantages: Not ideal for groups of 18 - 30s wanting a loud all you can drink holiday

Alcudia is on the north coast of Majorca aka Mallorca... and is the perfect resort for families. Unfortunately the transfer from the airport is about 60km but it is a pretty much straight road to Alcudia so is an easy enough journey whether tavelling by coach or taxi transfer or even if you've hired your very own car for the holiday...
The actual town of Alcudia is about 2 miles away from the coast, but is a lovely little place to explore - plenty of history to check out and they also offer guided tours around the old town.
The actual holiday resort of Alcudia is the west end part of the Bay of Alcudia - which runs for over 8km straight to the other resort of Playa de Muro and C'an Picafort in the east. If you're thinking of booking a holiday to Alcudia - make sure its actually in Alcudia itself - because it is known that many tour operators refer to hotels being in Alcudia - when in fact they are actually in Playa de Muro - which is a quiet & remote resort and is a distance from all the action of Alcudia.
Because the rsort is flat, its perfect for bike riding - (bikes can be hired daily for approx £4 per day rental charge) - there is a 3mile long cycle path right down the coastal road - and is great if you're in to that sort of thing.
Alcudia Bay is perfect for families with small children - the beach is ideal with the fine clean sand with shallow warm waters and there is also a wide range of watersports too - so ideal for mums & dads and older children too!
Its not a loud, young drinkers kind of resort - it is better for families with younger children. Entertainment is usually limited to hotel shows and karoke etc, however there is a few late night bars & nightclubs open. There is a large variety of restaurants for even the pickiest of eaters and your never more than a 5 minute walk to them either!
Also Alcudia has the largest water park on the island, with giant slides, pools, boating lakes, 3 mini golf courses - its called HIDROPARK ALCUDIA - AVENIDA TUCAN. Its usually about £10 per adult and approx £6 perchild but once inside all facilities are free... they also have a great food outlet in the park offering hotdogs, burgers, pizza, chips and drinks.
Also markets are held in Alcudia twice a week, so perfect if your wanting to pick up a bargain...they are held on Tuesdays & Sundays, in the morning....... and the most important thing is to make sure you haggle.... you will get most things at a fraction of the cost if your cheeky enough to knock the traders down in price!
Alcudia also has some fantastic Fiestas (carnivals, street parties etc) and if your in resort during their fiesta - you MUST go out and get involved, you really will have a great time..... They are 17th Jan, 20th Jan, 29th June (5 day event), 25th July, 26th July (every 3 yrs) and 24th August.
There is also a fab bar, Menta - its Alcudias biggest nightclub, with its own indoor swimming pool...although the drinks are expensive, it plays a ix of spanish & english music and is more aimed towards the 18 -30 age group... but is a great night out!

Summary: A nice resort aimed at families, lovely beaches.
