Alcudia- Definately return! (Alcudia)

Advantages: Beach! Shops, restuarants, great place

Disadvantages: I cant actually think of any! Coming home!

There are some places where you go on holiday and you forget you have been there, this is not one of them places! I loved Alcudia when we visited in late August 2007. This was my first holiday away on my own, and it was with my boyfriend. Being the first holiday on my own and with my boyfriend, (we had been together around a year at the time!) there are so many things that could have gone wrong, and well they didn't! We stayed in the bellvue hotel self catering for 1 week, and while it isnt the best hotel I have been too it was more than adeqaute. It is a big hotel and I am glad we went self catering as the resturants did seem very busy. The pools were great though and we managed to get a sunbed!

Shops
There are many shops situated in Alcudia from one end to the other, there are your typical tourist shops, where you can get all of your presents to take back home, and then you also have your other clothes/perfume/shoe/alcohol shops. Let's face it there is pretty much everything there! As we went self catering there were some occasions where we brought some food from the supermarket and ate it back in the hotel room. This was easy enough to do as there are many supermarkets where you can get your bread, milk, cereal, cheese, ham etc, perfect foods for lunch. We also brought some alcohol and had a few drinks on the balconly, perfect! There is not much else to say about the shops (obviously I wont talk about price becuse it was 2 years ago and we all know how things have changed since then!).

Restuarants
As I have mentioned we went self catering, so we needed to find places to eat out at night time, this was not a problem! There are lots and lots of restuarants all in each reach of each other which truley does make you spoilt for choice! You have your regular staff at these places trying to entise you in, my advice if you dont like being hassled that much, is to have a look at these resturants in the day and look at the menu's then, because then if you know where you are going its quicker to get there! I am quite a fussy eater and had no problems with any of the food in Alcudia, from steak, burgers, pizza etc there is lots to choose from, as well as your tyical spanish cuisine!

Bars
As two young 19 year olds, we wanted to stay out late and see what alcudia had to offer at nightimes. To be fair our hotel entertainment wasnt the best so we did venture out at night. There are many bars to choose from, and we were agin spolit for choice! I woulddefinately recommend visiting the Hawaiin Bar as it is very unique and if you like cocktails then it is definately for you! They greet you with a garland, and then you have a huge choice of cocktails to choose from which are served in a hawaiin jug! They also have swinging chairs that are extremely comfortable! We also found a karaoke bar which served good drinks and was fun to be there, having both the option to sit inside or outside! (We thought we'd leave the singing to the other holiday makers however!). We always found something to do at night time and enjoyed our time.

Beach
I am a beach lover and there are 2 words to explain this beach, beautiful and busy! It is an excellent beach, pure white sands and the sea is also just as good! you can see why it is so busy, and when I say busy, think the beginning of the TV programme Benidorm! However dont let this out you off, if you walk just a little further up the beach then it becomes less busy, I think people tend to sit nearer the cafe's and bars on the beach front so they are in easy access to that cool drink you need to cool you down! When we visited it was extremely hot and we didnt feel a breeze on the beach at all. I have been to many exotic beaches such as Cape Verde and Dominican Republic, and I have got to say that this beach is definately up there with them!

I had a great time in Alcudia and we had no problems. I definately want to go back there one day, and I am extremely jealous of my friend who goes on holiday there in a weeks time!

P.S. Just incase you were wondering, me and my boyfriend are still together, and will be celebrating our 3rd year together next month! Think that makes it a nice ending to this review!
