One word of warning though, do not leave windows open at night or you will get devoured by mosquitos! The resort of Alakanas itself is small, and there is very much a traditional Greek feel to the place. It is not completely overrun by tourists like some other resorts on the island. But despite its size, there is a choice of about 8 tavernas and perhaps 6 bars to keep you well fed and entertained. Alakanas in Zante was the destination for perhaps the best holiday I have had to date. Now let me tell you why!! Myself and my girlfriend travelled last September on a late deal with JMC. It cost around £270 b&b. As usual with cheap holidays, the flight times were not the best. Arrived at our hotel at 7am and had to leave a week and a day later at 4am. But when we did arrive at our hotel (Plessas Palace), which we hadnt even seen a picture of, we were pleasantly suprised to find it was actually quite nice with a good size pool, a lovely setting and clean, simple rooms with a balcony looking over a forest of olive trees and the mountains in the distance. ...
