Advantages: Beach and the bars

Disadvantages: Not for the 18-30's crowd

I went to alvor in may just gone for a week and i was impressed. This little village is really nice and has lots of nice restaurants.
We stayed in apartments near to the beach (which is beautiful). The beach is really nice to walk along and it's massive. The sand is soft and a golden colour, just how beaches should be.

Most weekday mornings there's a little fishing market. It's situated just off the beach. You will see the huts and all the fishing cages. There's another little front with some restaurants and bars. These are nicely positioned to sit out by the water.

The main streets are full of restaurants and quite a few bars, including some irish bars! Our favourite bar was 'Boozers' bar which is a kareoke bar. Had a really good night there laughing at all the people singing! I'm not too sure how much the drinks were but they weren't too expensive. The restaurants were really nice and the meals prices were reasonable. I would avoid one of the chinese resturants though, it didnt agree with me!

There are a few shops, mainly tourist ones and a little supermarket although it's fairly expensive!
There's a taxi rank area and a main bus stop! If you get on a bus saying 'hospital' look out for a retail park with a huge supermarket. This supermarket is really cheap and has lots of food in there. The buses are really cheap. The main route is to portimao! They run every 10 minutes. There's also numerous tourist buses which run every 2 hours to Lagos and Albufeira.

Alvor isn't that lively, there aren't really any clubs. I would recommend this resort to anyone who is looking for a relaxing holiday!
