Apulia (Puglia)

Newest Review: ... beautiful village in the >North of Puglia is Trani, famous for its beautiful romanic cathedral on the sea. You can have a walk in the centre and buy a croissant with ice cream...very delicious! In the south you can visit Castellana caves, spectacular caves, especially when you arrive in the "White cave". It's so beautiful that I can't describe it! If you like big beaches you are in the right place. We have got clean sea and beaches where you can go from May to October. The biggest towns in Puglia are Bari, Lecce, Foggia, Taranto and Brindisi. The most beautiful are Bari and Lecce. If you wanna know something mor... more

Premium Review Apulia (Puglia): my native land (286 words)

I live in the hearth of Puglia, so it's too easy, and too difficult to speak about it. I could speak for one day about my native land. There are many beatiful things to enjoy. You can visit Castel del Monte, a beautiful castle by Fredric II, in the north of Puglia. In the south there are trulli, the tipical building made of stones. Puglia (or Apulia as it is known in English) is the 'heel' of Italy, just as Calabria forms the toe. Actually, it is the heel and the spur, but I'll move onto that momentarily. Anyway, back to the rural Puglia, and more specifically Gargano. Puglia consists of two peninsulars.. the Salento Peninsular, which is the actual ...  Read the complete review

Take the train from Naples to Barletta. This seaside town has a fascinatingly scruffy atmosphere and is worth a quick visit. The public beach is the filthiest I've ever seen but there are private areas which are cleaner. Next on the coastal train line South Eastward comes Trani, with its attractive Duomo, its nervous people (organised crime?) and the world's best pasta. A short hop takes you on to Bisceglie which is a restful little spot. Next day stop at Molfetta a 'non-touristy' little port where the main hotel has excellent service. Bari is a typical Southern city, the sort of place where you may see someone being kidnapped. Hide your money belt. From ...  Read the complete review
