Las Vegas has changed in the last 10 years as it has tried to entice the whole family out to Vegas. It still has the gambling for Dad but it has also added amusement parks and games areas for the kids and even an ironing board in the hotel room for Mom.

Atlantic City is what Las Vegas was 10 yeas ago, a city built for gamblers.

That's why I love it, Although there are only 10 or 11 casinos in Atlantic City they all have vast gaming floors and if Poker is your game then the Trump Taj Mahal is only rivalled by Foxwoods when it comes to the amount of live cash games going on daily.

As well as the casino games the Atlantic City casinos also offer all the usual gambler's favourites. Luxorious rooms, restaurants, bars and gyms are comparable to Vegas and if you gamble high enough you can be comped (free to big gamblers) in all of these (I find you do not have to gamble as high to get comped in Atlantic city, I may sit down in a poker game in A.C. with $50,000 and they will give me a free room, meals and entertainment - a lot more than in Vegas).

The shows are not as lavish in Atlantic City and there aren't as many Amusement parks but if these are your thing then either grow up or go to Disney.

If you are a non-gambler there is not much point in going to Atlantic city - Bad weather, no amusements, expensive rooms. But if you are the sort of person who usually goes to Las Vegas but stays "Downtown" because you can't stand being surrounded by families and annoying kids then give Atlantic city a try - it is a gamblers paradise.
