AustraliaNewest Review: ... it is such a small place and it is unspoilt by tourism. The weather here is more pleasant and not as warm as other parts of Australia. It is an outdoor place if you want to see the sights. **CANBERRA** This is the capital of Australia and parliament and lots of history can be found here. You can have tours inside parliament including the old one. If you are to come home here there isn't a ... more |

I have not long returned from a gap year away where I spent most of my time in Australia working. This is definitely a country, which has lots to offer. I spent 6 months here and you could definitely spend longer. Below are some of the highlights of my trip: **SYDNEY** There are lots of things to see and do here, the Opera House being the most obvious. We paid to do a tour inside here, which I would recommend as you can see inside the theatre and its running. You can climb in Harbour Bridge but it's not for the faint hearted though as it very high up. If you take the boat to Taronga Zoo you can see the Opera House from the water and the views of ... Travelling is always part of my agenda in life. Being a Sagittarian, I always believe that my zodiac is destined to explore the globe. My travelling experience is coupled with two things: study/work and hobby. Most of my travels abroad are the result of my desire to pursue further studies and trainings in the field of my profession or basically just part of my job. The never-ending process of learning also gives me the adrenalin to go out of the country and meet a lot of people from different walks of life. My two-year stay in Australia was a rewarding experience. This was part of my postgraduate research program in environmental engineering at the University ... Read the complete review

As I have a mate who is currently doing the whole 'year in oz' experience, I thought it might be a good opportunity to go see what all the fuss is about. So I booked myself 5 weeks off work and got myself a flight and headed on down. As I decided to go during the busiest season (xmas & new year) my flights were about £860 with emerites but even this was booked 6mths in advance, so it was quite expensive to get there. The flight itself is NOT as bad as I thought it would be, though it did take about 26hrs in total to get there but I have a seperate review on emirates posted here of you want to know more about that. Once there though, ... Read the complete review

Last year, I decided to embark on an eight month long travelling expedition around Australia. This decision was seen by some, as a little unusual. So how hard was it to travel alone, find my feet and find work? My plans were very loose. I arrived from Kuala Lumpur Airport into Sydney and didn't have any accomodation arranged, so I took a minibus to the Wonderers on Kent Youth Hostel on Kent Street. This is a large hostel and has lots of facilites, if a little inpersonal. From Sydney, I bought an East Coast bus pass which allows you to travel for up to 3 months up the coast. So there it was: my plan in front of me. I got on the bus...and I got off ... Read the complete review

As many of you doubtless know, I spent a couple of years living and working in Australia for my sins (Lord, it was tough!). I was based in Sydney, however one Christmas my boss invited my hubby and me to go and spend Christmas in Adelaide with his family. Now we could have flown there in 1.75 hours from Sydney, however we decided to do things the hard way and drive over. Well, I only lived about two minutes from the office and they had given me this 3.6 litre Holden Commodore, which needed a long stretch on the open road. We decided to go to Adelaide ?The short way?, a drive which takes two days, or if you go flat at it, you can achieve it in one day, but it ... Read the complete review
