Advantages: Everything available in hotels

Disadvantages: Has lost the carribean flavour

I have just recently returned back from the bahamas as a honeymoon destination. The island that we were situated on was Nassau, this being predominatly a tourist destination. We stayed at the nassau beach hotel which is situated on Cable beach.

Now you know exactly where we were staying I can get on telling you a little about the experinence that we had while over there.

One thing to be warned is that the bahamas is mostly geard towards the Americans as for them it as easy for them to go their as it is for us to hop the channel to France.
By this i mean commercial big chain restarants, Macs, Sbarro, BKing, Burger bars. I think you know what i mean. You don`t get the feel of the carribean once there.

Personally I didn`t really like it. the beaches where to over-crowded and dirty. The sea was clean but it was n`t crisp and sparkling water. Also the jet skis zooming about didn`t give you peace of mind when swimming.
The 1 metre sewage pipe coming out of the hotel complex into the sea ion full view didn`t really give me great confidence to swim.

Although the Hotel was excellent with every conceivable amenity available (at a price). This was one aspect that made the trip somewhat enjoyable.

Another word of warning is the price of things. If you ever thought London is expensive then the Bahamas will give a whole new meaning to the word rip off. Although food is reasonable as the portions are excessive.

I don`t want to put anyone off going as their are great other tourist attractions such as Atlantis on Paradise island and the Flamingo show at the Zoo just to name a few.

Would I ever go back there I don`t think so. If I want a carribean experince I will go a Proper carribean island such as the Turks & Caicos, Jamaca, Caymen islands etc.

Anyway If you have your heart bet on the Bahamas do check it out. Never now you may have a better time than i did.
