I visited Belize in 2006 on a diving trip so this is a review of both Belize and the diving. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What Made me Choose Belize? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am a keen diver and had just finished watching champion freediver, Tanya Streeter, in a programme about scuba diving and skin diving in Belize. I was so fascinated and taken by the place that I decided I must go and spent time researching my different options. I settled on a liveaboard experience (7 days at sea) and a week spent in Belize. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Getting to/from Belize ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I live in Berkshire so I flew from ...  Read the complete review

Belize, My girlfriend and I visited Belize a few months ago whilst on a backpacking holiday. Whilst on the bus the driver had the local radio station blaring out reggae music, after one such song an advert from the local tourist board came on – (apply strong Jamaican accent): ‘As we all know tourism means money, each tourist in Belize will spend at least 1000 Belize dollars, so make them feel at home’ We were sat on the back of the bus (the only whites), and after the announcement several of the ...  Read the complete review

We arrived at Dallas airport to find that our plane to Belize was broken - good job they found out before we took off! - anyway due to our late departure it was too late to get the transport down to Dangriga so we had a night stop over in Belize City - I was surprised at how good the city looked - only slightly affected by the recent hurricane (a couple of roads had turned to rubble), but apart from that it was on a par with some parts of southern Spain - or Istanbul, only much less people and taxis!!! We were entertained that evening by a guy who was playing a marimba continuously in the restaurant - he had made it by ...  Read the complete review

Combine the physical beauty of hawaii or fiji, the island hospitality and friendliness of the bahamas or jamaica, and the super-inexpensive prices of india and thailand, and you arrive at Belize. Most widely known as a scuba diving and active sports destination, Belize is a country where you can lounge on pristine beaches, hike through lush rain forests and visit ancient ruins. The barrier coral reef off the coast of Belize is the second largest in the world after Australia's Great Barrier reef. Also, Belize is home to 3 of the 4 atolls in all of the western hemisphere - so you don't have to travel to the middle of the pacific to see a lush ...  Read the complete review
