Advantages: Beaches, beauty, not too noisy

Disadvantages: More distance from Alicante airport

I've been to the Costa Blanca many times as my nan owned a apartment in the town of Calpe.
Calpe is about 30km North of Benidorm, and is famous for it's "mini Gibralta Rock," Penon de Ifach. This is a great hulk of broken mountain that dominates the area, and provides a really beautiful focal point to Calpe.

In the time I've been there, Calpe has changed from a small Spanish town, with it's current rash of Burger Kings and apartment blocks. But this does not detract from a corner of the Costa with two huge beaches either side of the rock, and good family shops and leisure parks.

If you want lights, bars and night life, go to Benidorm, but for a different, more family orientated holiday, take a chance on Calpe.
