Myself and my partner decided to go to Benidorm because it was cheap. As we were on a budget, so the cost was prime consideration.

I know Benidorm had a reputation for being a "dive", but had heard that it was getting better from other people who had been. They were wrong. Whilst i had my fair share of fun times in Benidorm the sheer amount of British, Scottish, Irish and Welsh themed pubs, bars and cafes completely ruined the resort for me. In a whole week i only managed to find one almost authentically "Spanish" restaurant out of hundreds.


By night Benidorm is also unashamedly commercialised and all aimed at the british. There are two main long streets with bars and clubs open to 6am, and in most places service friendly quick, both at the bar and the dinner table. However, if it's entertainment you are looking for then you are likely to only find soft porn shows in the resort itself. Every second bar seems to advertise a "lesbian sex show". This is definatly not a place where people with kids would want to go out in the evening.


Another problem is drugs, despite the constant precence of police in some areas, people persist in trying to sell both soft and hard drugs to anyone willing to buy it.


It is possible to find some bars with a more relaxed atmosphere, but these tend to be on the side streets' so many people dont notice them.

No matter what your age there are ways to enjoy yourself in Benidorm, but it would be advisable to have some means of transport to explore other areas than Benidorm itself.


Adlante Club apartments are haven of tranquility in Benidorm. Being as they are, closer to the older part of the original resort, the night life won't disturb you too much even if it is a 5 min walk way. There are 14 floors and if you dont mind heights, this is a bonus. We stayed on the thirteeth floor and had a partial sea view and also a view from our
kitchenette along the main road with the nightlife. Rooms are small, but adequate for people expecting to be out all day in the sun, and the pools are just the right size. Shadows around the pool area can become annoying due to surrounding buildings, but the beach is literally 2 min walk away anywhy. there are two min-markets close by which are basic but adequate and also a souvenier shop/newsagents 1 min walk away. The nearest two "restaurants" are Burger King and Mcdonalds, although the sandwich shop on the beach past these to the left sells excellent freshly prepared baggettes.
