If you are holidaying at any of the Italian lakes, Milan, or Brescia, it is well worth taking a day out of your schedule to visit Bergamo. It is only half an hour away from any of these places by train and I assure you, you won't be disappointed. Bergamo is split into 2 parts, the medieval 'citta' alta', being of the most historical and cultural interest. Every tiny cobbled street holds secrets of a past glorious age and the best way to get a feel for the place is to simply walk around it.
