BratislavaNewest Review: ... we used a large number of taxis, which was expensive (always pre-book taxis in Bratislava, rather than hailing one on the street, the rates are about 50% cheaper). The old town, which is where most of the tourist attractions are located, is pedestrianised making it pleasant to roam about and take in some amazing architecture. Some of the most interesting tourist attractions have to be the ... more |

I visited Bratislava in July of this year, and really enjoyed it. I flew into Bratislava airport with Ryanair, and all went smoothly. There was an elderly relative travelling with us so invested in a taxi to our hotel (Andromeda Wellness, Marianka- just outside Bratislava). The taxi driver spoke very little English, but tried to point out places of interest. His driving was rather eratic, but we were to discover that this was the norm for all taxi drivers in Bratislava! The hotel was difficult to find but once there the owner did everything possible to make us feel welcome. It was clean, comfortable and spacious. The only downside was the lack of public ... I visited Bratislave in january this year and was instantly glad I had done. We flew with Ryanair into Bratislava airport, one of the cheapest ways to Eastern Europe, I think we paid about £30 each for the flights. Once there we caught the bus into town (regular service, I forget the price) and the adventure began! After a fashion, and some crazy directions, we found our hostel, Patio hostel. Myself and a friend stayed in a dorm room for about £6.50 each which was the cheapest room we could find in Bratislava then. The rooms were pretty basic, with bunkbeds and around 6 people to a room, but the hostel was great fun. Full of travellers from around the room, ... Read the complete review

I visited Bratislava in March 2009 having given myself a week to see both Bratislava and Vienna. I flew into Bratislava airport (a much cheaper option than Vienna - and I would point this out even for anyone solely interested in Vienna, it has easy buses or trains to central Vienna). Again I flew Ryanair and again the flight was uneventful and on time. Arriving at the airport at night I found it easy to navigate and well organised unlike so many UK airports. Buses to the main station and the centre of town run from right outside the terminal. The number 61 takes you right to the main station for any Vienna transfers and only costs 1 Euro. All ... My husband and I visited Bratislava in May 2008. We travelled by boat from Vienna and left by train to Budapest, staying for two nights. Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia and is situated on the Danube River. I imagine that as a tourist destination it is becoming more popular, especially with the popularity of low cost airlines. However, one disadvantage of this is that it is particularly popular with British stag parties - a walk down the main streets during the day reveals numerous large groups of young men sprawled across tables in the bars with their pints and matching T-shirts. It is also popular for day trips because of its central location in Europe and ... Read the complete review

Bratislava is the capital city of Slovakia. It might be not the most beautiful city in the world, but for me always will be very special place, where I spend two most beautiful years in my life so far. If you have never been in this city I highly recommend you to go look there. **Transportation** The first thought coming to your mind, when you want to visit this city is how to come there. Slovakia is the hearth of the Europe and has borders with six countries. The easiest way to come to Bratislava would be fly to Bratislava airport. But sometimes it can be hard to find flight straight to the capital city, but you have still other options. You can fly to ... Read the complete review
