Bratislava: Just awful. (150 words)

I've been all over Europe and I thought Bratislava was be a rather charming and sweet place with a nice old town. Its nothing of the sort, the main word I would use to describe it is ugly. Everything is ugly, its like the rest of Europe would have been 50 years ago only worse. 98% of the city is grey tenement blocks, and there is literally nothing ...  Read the complete review

I visited Bratislava in July of this year, and really enjoyed it. I flew into Bratislava airport with Ryanair, and all went smoothly. There was an elderly relative travelling with us so invested in a taxi to our hotel (Andromeda Wellness, Marianka- just outside Bratislava). The taxi driver spoke very little English, but tried to point out places ...  Read the complete review

I visited Bratislave in january this year and was instantly glad I had done. We flew with Ryanair into Bratislava airport, one of the cheapest ways to Eastern Europe, I think we paid about £30 each for the flights. Once there we caught the bus into town (regular service, I forget the price) and the adventure began! After a fashion, and ...  Read the complete review

I visited Bratislava in March 2009 having given myself a week to see both Bratislava and Vienna. I flew into Bratislava airport (a much cheaper option than Vienna - and I would point this out even for anyone solely interested in Vienna, it has easy buses or trains to central Vienna). Again I flew Ryanair and again the flight was ...  Read the complete review

My husband and I visited Bratislava in May 2008. We travelled by boat from Vienna and left by train to Budapest, staying for two nights. Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia and is situated on the Danube River. I imagine that as a tourist destination it is becoming more popular, especially with the popularity of low cost airlines. However, one ...  Read the complete review

Bratislava is the capital city of Slovakia. It might be not the most beautiful city in the world, but for me always will be very special place, where I spend two most beautiful years in my life so far. If you have never been in this city I highly recommend you to go look there. **Transportation** The first thought coming to your ...  Read the complete review

I went to Bratislava while working in Vienna for a summer as it is only a hop, skip and a jump away from the Austrian border. I knew then, and to this day know very little about Slovakia as a whole. I don’t tend to read historical guides for fun, so can tell you little of this country’s history or politics, but I can tell you what it was like to ...  Read the complete review

Rating:

The capital city of Slovakia, Bratislava, has been greatly overlooked by tourists in the past. At first it seems unattractive compared with the likes of Prague and Budapest. However, dig a little deeper and you will find a town rich in culture and art, fine restaurants, elegant buildings, churches, cathedrals, museums and galleries. It has an ...  Read the complete review
