I visited Brisbane back in 2004 (4 years ago) and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Brisbane is the capital of the Australian State of Queensland and is located not far from some of the popular Brisbane holiday spots like the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and Surfers Paradise. Brisbane is a city of many suburbs, we were staying in Coorparoo which was very nice and I would highly recommend it.

I'll start off by reviewing Brisbane International Airport. It was really nice, appearing very modern (I know the airport has been there a long time) with plenty of places to sit and plenty of cool shops, lots selling the quintessential Australian Souvenires. Passing through the airport was thankfully quite a pleasant experience. I flew into the Qantas dominated airfield with Singapore Airlines, a fantastic airline!

The city is great, there are lots of shops and some really nice shopping malls. Food is quite reasonable, compared to the UK anyway and there are some really nice tradestands like a Juice bar selling scores of different flavours, all bottled and ready to be drunk. You must drink lots in Brisbane, as you can dehydrate pretty quickly.

We took a coach tour to the Sunshine Coast and visited Australia Zoo - absoloutely fantastic, one of the worlds best (if not the best) Zoological facilities. We also visited Sea World Nara on the goldcoast, which has loads of wonderful things like dophins and polar bears - fantastic!!

Overall I highly recommend Queensland and Brisbane is a very good base. Everyone needs to visit Australia at least once in their life and Brisbane is a city I would highly recommend!
