BrittanyNewest Review: ... Dae (Festival of the Day). At many of these, the traditional instruments of Brittany can be heard and the dancing in the traditional Breton style is such a wonderful demonstration of custome and pride. Towns in Brittany offer mostly free parking, and town centres like Vannes can be fun to discover, offering a good range of shops, restaurants, as well as a very good ambience. The Guelardan ... more |

I live in Brittany, and I would extol this corner of France as being an ideal place for family holidays, and also for adult holidays. There is a wealth to discover from the northern coast right down to the southern coast, and many areas in between. One of the nicest things about considering Brittany for a holiday is price, and although Brittany can be reached via Brittany Ferries, I feel that their pricing structure actually leaves a lot to be desired. The cheaper option by far is to take Ryanair up on its bargain flights and to hire a vehicle, which works out to make the holiday much more economical. Accommodation There are many options ... At the end of the first week of a fortnight's stay on holiday in Brittany in the North West of France for the dave27 clan, it seemed appropriate for tonight's little epic to be devoted to the region, and I'm going to double up with the story of our own little bit of La Belle France, and, given how long it's taken to perfect, the title seems pretty apt. But I'll come back to that a bit later. :::::::::::::::::::::: Brittany has always seemed to me just that little bit different from the rest of France. Ever since me and Mrs D and the dave27-ettes first visited the place getting on for three years ago now, we have been enchanted ... Read the complete review

I have been visiting France ever since I was a child, but for the last eight years or so, I have specifically been going to Brittany due to the fact that my Mum and step-dad bought a house there. My French is not up to scratch and so what little I may throw in to this op. to give it a 'journa'sa qua' will undoubtedly be spellt wrong and be in the wrong gender. Brittany cannot be described as anyhting other than 'picturesque'. Well this is what I am lead to believe. Okay, okay it is picturesque, but you can't live in picturesque - it's just too hard to maintain! This house that my parents live in is situated very nicely, ... Read the complete review

Dear Diary, Just thought I'd drop you a few lines about our recent holiday in France - ooh la la! A bit of background first... dave27 and I fell in love with France, or Brittany to be more precise, getting on for two years ago now when we went to a mobile home park, La Ranollien, at Perros Guirec on the north coast of Brittany, known as the Pink Granite Coast. We had a wonderful time (I won't mention the barbecue I managed to set on fire outside the mobile home, I think dave27 has already written about that one). Brittany is a marvellous place, seemingly set in a time zone all of its own, sleepy and quiet and resembling ... Read the complete review

I have spent numerous weeks in Brittany, in Gites rented for usually 2 weeks at a time. I have always found the people to be extremely welcoming, espescially if a little effort is made with the language. The countryside is spectacular, the only problem being is the more off the beaten track you go, the more likely you are to get lost! - We came to the conclusion that a lot of roadsigns were removed during the war, and have never been replaced! Handy Hint - take a good map & a compass & a sense of humour. The towns on the North and South sides are all worth visiting - Dinard is spectacular if you like old buildings & as for the shops ...
