Why Brussels and more generally Belgium has a reputation for being boring is beyond me. I stayed a couple of days in Brussels last summer and had a great time. I'm not sure what's not to like in Brussels, they have great beer, great chocolate and it's a beautiful city with loads of attractions. My only regret was that wasn't able to stay ... It seems an odd thing to review but here goes. What can you say about Brussels airport? If you are flying to Brussels you will find the runway conveniently placed under the wheels of the aircraft as it lands. On taking off the runway is conveniently flat. At night the runways have lights to aid the pilots landing. But it is hardly product ... Read the complete review

Coming, as I occasionally do, from London, I have to confess to having had in the past a somewhat prejudiced view of Brussels. This view, based mostly on the eponymous vegetable and a few news report backdrops, was never going to be accurate. I'm grown-up enough to admit that in my heart of hearts I knew this to be the case, but did ... Read the complete review

Although Brussels is the capital of Europe, it's often overlooked as a city break location due to it being sandwiched between its more famous neighbours, Paris and Amsterdam. Having lived and worked in Brussels for a year as a student, I have a rather fond regard for the place. I'll freely admit that it has not got as many well known attractions ... My husband had a conference to attend in Belgium, he had visited last year and had returned with stories of 'Neuhaus', 'Godiva' (not the naked lady) 'The Grand Place' and 'Mannekin Pis' etc.. I decided to tag along and discover the delights that are Brussels.. We took a cheap Ryan Air flight from ... Read the complete review

Brussels wouldn't necessarily be most people's first choice for a European city weekend break, with Amsterdam and Paris somewhat higher on the list, I suspect. However, it does have one major advantage if you live in or around London - it's one of the two direct destinations served by the Eurostar train, the other being ... Read the complete review

My Dad was working here in Brussels last summer so when he offered me his flat for a week for a little break I agreed straightaway. Come on, I was skint and the offer of a very cheap holiday doesn't come along too often. So myself and my boyfriend headed off to Brussels thanks to National Express for the sum of £55 all the way from Birmingham. ... Read the complete review

A few days this spring in Brussels was definitely what I needed to banish those winter blues. When we arrived Easter was definitely in full swing. The amount of chocolate shops was almost overwhelming, could even a whole city full of people eat all of that chocolate? Apparently so as business was booming which may have accounted for the ... Like "Huddro" I am fresh from an Easter weekend in Brussels, the city with an inexhaustible supply of exotic beers you just have to try. Its tourist industry has no doubt boomed as a result of its newly-acquired status as "that other city you can get to on the Eurostar", but it isn't really a patch on Paris. Still, it has ... The Dutch tend to feel a distinct superiority over their southern neighbors. Being half-Dutch, I felt that my August 1999 stay in Brussels would be profoundly unimpressive, especially since I had seen the wonders of Paris, Avignon, Rome, Venice, and Florence only a few weeks previously. I was in for a rather pleasant surprise. Immediately ... Read the complete review

If you are visiting Brussels for sightseeing, you will probably be disappointed. However, for a weekend of sampling the delights of Belgian beer then Brussels is your place. First stop (having staggered off the Eurostar) is to head for the Grand Platz. Tacky and touristy I know but why not get some of the bars here out of your system ... Read the complete review

This is an even year, which means that the Grand Place in the centre of Brussels is to be covered by a flower carpet - This only happens every other year in August. Visiting this city in July/August is cool as the Belgians like the French leave their cities for the country and coast. Brussels takes its name from Broekzele, or ... Read the complete review

To say that Brussels is the political capital of Europe, as a city it leaves a lot to desired. Having been many times on business, I can honestly say that it is one of the most boring places I have ever been. It does not feel like a capital, geographical or political, and does nothing at all for me. Yes, it is certainly a big ... Read the complete review

Travelling in Europe makes you realise just how relaxed the rest of the world is compared to England. With three official languages in Belgium one could think of it as a trial of a mini Europe. With Brussels at the centre, a divider between the French speaking south and the Flemish North.
