Calais

I remember my boyfriend wanting to go on a mini trip to calais, i was thinking why the?? i said its just a port and people go there to buy cheap food and booze. But it sounded like a good road trip so i was up for it.Ive heard so much bad stuff about this place on the tv etc. People trying to get to uk , hiding in lorries etc,so i wasent expeting much. We got there late at night,so i cudent see much, so i waited untill the next day to see what it is like. Wow! its such a lovely cute little town. It has everything you need. Up until this time last year, I looked upon Calais as merely being the "doorway to Europe". Nothing in itself other than a lot of industrial areas, on some very flat land, with a lot of cheap alcohol joints, and some boats. Basically I thought it was a dump. I could've been forgiven for thinking so too... as the horrible parts, and the cash-n-carry's are all people see... in either the route to the beer, or the route to somewhere more southern.
