Advantages: Brilliant if you Want to Relax

Disadvantages: Not very good night life

I know the name might put you off a bit as its virtually impossible to get right. Callela is a small town on the north eastern coast about 2 and a half hours north of Barcelona, this Callela is not to be mixed up with the other Callela which is just outside Barcelona. The is home to the 'La Siesta' holiday resort which is camping and caravanning and also has chalets amd cabins. The town itself is very charming, and if you go in july theres a good chance that you will catch the carnival of the sea, which is a big party held every year by the locals, with live music and a firework show and allsorts of things going on. The town is primarily a fishing village but due to a recent rise in popularity some of the locals have giving up tradition and opened little seafront cafes and restaurants and souvenir shops. If you are looking for a holiday with lots of pubs and clubs then this probably isn't the place for you, if you are looking for a quiet holiday where you can actually hear yourself think and relax for a couple of weeks then this is definately the place for you. The beaches are all clean and get quite deep just offshore and theres plenty of things to be jumping of or diving down to. Just down the road there is another little town with a better night life but i wouldn't wanna be walking home when i was drunk cos its quite easy to get lost. A must in the nearby town is to swim out about 15-20 meters and then dive down to the seabed and watch the catfish feeding off the bottom, their quite freaky looking at first and some swim right up to you but they are very graceful when just going about their business around you. To the other side of Callela and you will find a path along the side of the cliffs if you follow this path you will find many good places to swim from and at the end of the path there is a small beach were all the locals hag out because not many people know about it. I suggest you go right to the other end of the beach climb over the rocks and put your stuf
f there, and in front off you in the water there is another large rock which sticks about 20 - 30 feet out of the water, when you get to the top you can see quite far in all directions and you get quite a buzz when you realise climbing down isn't an option and you have to throw yourself from the top in the clear blue below, its perfectly safe as the water is very deep here, whilst I was there people were diving off the top so it must be safe.

Totally agree with you on this one - I stayed there last year and it was a great relaxing holiday away from the usual tourist traps.
