CanadaNewest Review: ... Art Deco interior is a great place to spend a few hours. A good restaurant and bar, probably a very good, if rather expensive place to stay. Finally there was a two-hour drive to Calgary and the Air Canada flight to the UK Conclusion A very enjoyable holiday with some wonderful wildlife viewing opportunities and scenery and pleasant places to stay in the Rockies and Vancouver Island, let ... more |

In September 2005 I took a two-week holiday in Canada with my partner, starting in Vancouver, exploring Vancouver Island by car, then taking the Rocky Mountaineer train to Jasper and on to Lake Louise, Banff and Calgary. Our main objective was to experience the beauty of the vast wide open-spaces, but also spend a few days enjoying Canadian culture in some of the towns and cities. Vancouver We flew with Air Canada from Heathrow Terminal 3 into Vancouver. Rather than having a car while in Vancouver, we took a taxi to our hotel and explored the city mostly on foot. We stayed at an hotel called "Rosedale on Robson" for two nights, which ... Read the complete review

This is a review about the Canadian Rocky Mountains in Alberta. They reminded me of the Lake District, in Cumbria, but they are bigger in every meaning of the word. That's not to say that I dislike our very own beautiful national park, but the views of the Rockies are simply astounding. There is no point in trying to see and do everything in one trip and be rushed off your feet. My advice is to concentrate on two or three places and get the most out of them. In my ten day holiday, I visited Lake Louise, in Banff National Park, and Jasper, in Jasper National Park. Following a problem-free nine hour flight from Manchester, on Zoom airlines, we arrived ... When I tell people that I spent a year in Canada, their response always seems to be ?ahhhhh, I?ve always wanted to visit Canada? or ?ahhhhh, you?re so lucky, it?s such a nice country?! And they are so right. Canada is an amazing country with so much to offer everyone. It is breathtakingly beautiful, overwhelmingly friendly, has such extremes within the huge country from the vibrant and cool cities of Toronto and Vancouver to the snow-capped peaks of the Rockies, to the barren and treeless tundra in the far far north. Canada is enormous (almost the size of Europe!), but about 90% of the population live along the southern border. To be honest, after ... Read the complete review

This review is of the little known Island of Vancouver Island - just west of Vancouver in BC, Canada. A couple of summers ago, a friend and I embarked on a short trip to tofino which is a small little town located on the Island. Tofino is a quiet town, suitable for the lover of the outdoors. There are incredible mountains, waters and views. However, there is a pleasant lack of tourists, even in the high season which is when I went. There are many tour groups opearting which offer to take you to the Island, but I would advise planning youself and doing it your own way. This will save you money and you will allow you greater flexibility. Some like to ... Read the complete review

Canada hey. Home to Ice Hockey, Labatts, Moose and very soon, me! I visited Canada, specifically Alberta, last summer. I loved it so much I decided I am going to live there!!! Canadians are a strange bunch, they hate the Americans, say "ey" a lot, they enjoy running around in -30c temps and their papers cover world news in 4 pages and Hockey news in 12! I landed at Calgary airport and was warmly welcomed by a little old lady saying "Welcome to Canada". Nice touch. Calgary is easily the cleanest city I have ever seen. Their idea of a traffic jam is being stuck at the traffic lights behind two cars. If you don't like where ... Read the complete review
