cancun for wheelchairs (Cancun)
Member Name: bendy321
Advantages: Pretty, nice food, good for partying/clubbing Disadvantages: very expensive and unsuitable for wheelchairs
Our family went to Cancun, Mexico in November 2000. Myself and my disabled mum and my Dad. Before we booked the holiday we asked First Choice, who we booked with if Cancun was wheelchair friendly. we was told that Cancun was fine for wheelchairs and that the resort that we were boked into was also wheelchair friendly. When we got there however we found tha Cancun had some of the highest kerbs we had ever seen some nearly a foot! This was particularly difficult for us as my mums wheelchair is electric and extremely heavy so we could not jus lift it up and down kerbs easy. Also at our hotel we had no access to the beach with the wheelchair so my mum missed out on that experience. The hotel (sunset lagoon) offered to lend us a collapsable wheelchair which we greatly appreciated until we was at a restaurant when the central bar broke and the wheelchair collapsed (with my mum in it). Although mexico is a nice country we would not recomend it to disabled people. Summary: |
