Cape CanaveralNewest Review: ... each area for the coaches to arrive. Once you had walked around the area you were in you then waited at a bus stop for a coach to turn up and take you on to the next part of the tour. First stop was the Observation Gantry. From here you could climb the Gantry and view the launch pads for rockets and satelites that are sent into space. This was O.K, although not a lot to see if you just looked ... more |

We travelled to Florida about three years ago and I insited to my wife that we go to Kennedy Space Center. As a child I have always wanted to be an astronaut (who didn`t), so this was going to be great. We started early one morning by car and didn`t have any trouble finding it, as with anywhere in Florida travelling by road is so simple. When you arrive you get your map and wonder round the first area. The whole complex is split into four different areas. You start at the visitor complex where the restaurants and shops are situated along with the Rocket Garden and the Imax Theatres. The other areas are visited by coach. You have to purchase tour tickets for ... Read the complete review

During April 2001 I had my first visit to Florida and it was a necessity that I went to this site, as I have always been interested in space travel. The Apollo 11 mission of 1969 was a great experience to watch on tv, especially the lunar landing in The Sea Of Tranquility. On purchasing the ticket you get a colour tour-guide magazine worth $5.95. Included with this guide you also receive colour cards of parts of the complex and a typed schedule of Alan Shepard's ride in a spaceship. You can also buy tour tickets. One takes you on a guided coach tour of Cape Canaveral:Then and Now. The other is the Space Shuttle tour. I went on the Cape Tour, ... Read the complete review

When the subject of visiting the Kennedy Space Centre was broached I was a bit dubious but as the men in the family were all keen I went along for the ride. You enter the complex through Spaceport Central where you can pick up information, wheelchairs, buggies and can buy tickets. Kennedy itself is free but to enjoy it to the full a bus tour to the NASA Space Shuttle facility and a tour to the launch pad and the Apollo/Saturn V centre are well worth it. It only costs $8 for adults and $5 for children up to 11 under 3s are free, a Mission Pass costing $19 for adults $12 for kids includes the bus tour and a visit to the wonderful IMAX theatre where 3 films are ... How interesting could a lot of metal and concrete be, you ask. Especially if you are not there at the time of a launch. Well the answer is, fascinating. There is a lot to see here, and I would recommend you try and see it all, which would take nore than one day ! There are 3 tours here, the basic one which gets you to the Saturn V rocket,a view site of the shuttle lauch pad and to where the components of the international space station are being readied to go into the shuttles. You also get free access to the visitor centre, where there are several interesting exhibits as well as two IMAX movies (one in 3D) Then there are the special tours (they also include the ... Cape Kennedy (Canaveral is actually the air force base nearby) is one of the best attractions in Florida. Less than an hour from Orlando, it is easily accessable to anyone with a car and rvrn the slightest interest in the space program. Cape Kennedy is open all day, but there is so much to see you really should get there nice and early to avoid having to pack everything in at the last minute. The cost is $24 for a full access pass. I recommend the full access pass-- so much of the good stuff is accessed only by this pass. The limited access pass is $14 cheaper, but when are you going to be back here? There is a really great attraction for kids (and ... Read the complete review
