Hotel transfers are in my opinion the best form of transportation from the airport and the majority of hotels in Cape Town offer transfers at a reasonable price in a comfortable car, we arranged the transfers before we left the UK and had a confirmed price added to our hotel accommodation and we were advised that the driver would be at the baggage ... more

After winning flights to Johannesburg with Air France I thought I would take the opportunity to fly to Cape Town for my holiday, I am really glad that I did. Cape Town is the third most populated city in South Africa and is famous for its harbour, mountain and many many more attractions. *~*Getting There*~* There are many ways to fly to Cape Town most regional airports now offer an indirect service via Paris or Amsterdam with the likes of KLM or Air France or you can get a direct flight from London with British Airways, South African Airlines or Virgin Atlantic. Johannesburg is the main hub for International flights from the UK and ...  Read the complete review

This time last year I was in the beautiful country of South Africa, sitting by my aunties pool sipping Guava Juice, and letting the glowing rays turn my skin into a warm brown. My mum and I went out to South Africa to visit relatives, my Nan (Mum?s mum) my Auntie and her husband and three children (Whom I have never met before) and my Granddad?s brother (My Mum?s uncle) and his family. This was always going to be a holiday full of memories; I have not seen my Nan since I was eight and the rest of my family since I was two. We were to stay in South Africa for 3 weeks, we stayed in Durban for the first week and for the second we headed of to Cape Town, my Auntie ...  Read the complete review

Cape Town: Undiscovered paradise (1890 words)

This is certainly one of the most stunning cities I have ever visited on my travels. And the real beauty is that it’s pretty untouched from tourism and commercial constraints thus so far. The economy is in transition so you get fantastic value with the Rand. A meal with a bottle of wine in a nice restaurant would cost you around 50r(a fiver) for two, a beer in a nice bar would cost about 40 pence or so. A direct flight in here is an extroidanary experience as you skim the top of Table Mountain then bank left sharply as you swoop into the boiling tarmac runway, shimmering in heat haze from the hot afternoon African sun. Cape Towns nightlife is ...  Read the complete review

Sexy African music, the smell of hibiscus, flat topped Table Mountain, rock pools, high rise buildings and shanty towns : that's CAPE TOWN. Crime? They don't want you to know (but see below). What to see? TABLE MOUNTAIN and cablecar - Table Mountain is one of the wonders of the world. From the top the views are of smaller mountains, yellow bushes, and distant sea. Not quite Rio, but, world class all the same. It can be very windy and rather COLD, but there is a restaurant for shelter. I prefer the view of Table Mountain from below, rather than the view from Table Mountain, but it's still worth getting up there. WINELANDS ...  Read the complete review

Capetown is perhaps the most european south african city. It has one of the most relaxed atmospheres in south africa, has nothing like the crime in jo'burg. When visiting Capetown you will find the great attractions of Table mountain and the water front shopping complex. Dont forget the less known museums and gardens in central capetown. No trip to Capetown is complete without a visit to Robben island. Ex inmates will show you around the prision and the island itself, a fasinating look into South africas more modern history. Shopping centres US style are springing up everywhere and with a favourable exchange rate you can get real bargins. Eating out ...  Read the complete review
