CapriNewest Review: ... buildings a pretty sheer cliff/mountain had to be negotiated before we got to Capri. Call us green, we didn't know what a funcular (a sort of cablecar/train hybrid) was and so we caught a bus that wound up the mountainside into the town. We were dropped off in the main street and walked up to the centre. The views are breathtaking, a dazzling sea, cliffs and mountains and quaint buildings. ... more |

Visiting Sorrento, we were instructed by all and sundry before we left that we had to visit Capri. It was really the only trip we did as relaxation was top priority rather than any frantic sightseeing, so we went a few days into our trip. We walked down the steep steps and roads from Sorrento to the harbour. The walk down was slightly hairy due to a lack of footpaths and the crazy driving of the inhabitants! Once we were in the harbour there are various companies that you can travel with, the next ferry across was due so we got tickets from a very rude girl in a kiosk, E54 for us both, pretty hefty but you have to don't you? We boarded the large ... Read the complete review

**A review of Capri and visiting Capri Town** I have reviewed this from a day trippers point of view as I have visited Capri twice now in May 2003 and August 2008. Capri is a small Island and I have only visited the Marina and Capri Town and not some of the other fantastic sites on the island. This is because unfortunately one day on the island is not enough to see and do everything that Capri offers. Although I have been twice it was with different people (my mum then my friend) so the 2nd time I revisited the areas in the first trip and as I love shops Capri Town was the destination for me both times. **Where is Capri? ... We booked a day trip to Capri with a representative from our hotel (we were staying at the Excelsior Vittoria hotel) in Sorrento this cost us £50.00 per person. We got the hydrofoil from the marina Piccolo which takes about fifteen minutes. As we approached Capri I was amazed at the awe inspiring view of elegant brightly coloured buildings and sub-tropical vegetation. Anacapri We caught a minibus to Anacapri which is the island's second(Ana-means other), quieter town, with lovely white houses halfway up the slopes of Monte Solaro(which is the highest point on Capri), one of the highlights for me was the scenic chairlift from Piazza Vittoria. I visited Capri in April 2006 with a group of school friends and I can honestly say that it is one of the most beautiful little places in the world. It is situated just off the Sorrentine Peninsula. We were staying in Sorrento for the week so we got the ferry from Sorrento harbour straight into Capri. The boat takes you into Marina Grande, from where you can take the funicular up to Capri village. The first thing you notice when approaching the island is the stunning scenery and you can really begin to see why so many of the rich and famous have homes here...I know I would if I could ever afford it! The quaint little village has been ... Read the complete review

I was unfortunate to go to Capri on a rainy day, so perhaps my opinion suffers bias. It was still quite charming with its narrow streets, classic italian ice cream and of course the madly chattering Italians. The sea was of the most beautiful startling turquoise with the fish being easily visible. With its monastry and historical connections with Tiberius's reknowned "minnows" (Tacitus records little boys employed to swim with him - eugh) - its past is throughly aristrocratic and magical. A short boat cruise with my friends was to take us to the rocks of Faraglione, the sea was rough and the Italians were suprised (much to our suprise) that the ... Read the complete review
