Advantages: Great sceanery

Disadvantages: expensive

I visited Capri last year while on holiday in Sorrento. The island is easy to get to. We took a cheap boat from Sorrento (about £4 each) which took about half an hour. The island itself is very lush and very green but also very dramatic, with steep cliffs bursting from the sea.
As soon as we got there we booked another boat to the “Blue Grotto”. I would recommend this to anyone. The grotto is basically a cave with an opening just big enough to get a small rowing boat and four people through. Once inside the cave opens up into a fairly big grotto. The sun shining through the small opening floods the cave with a luminous blue which is absolutely stunning. If you’re lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you look at it) your guide will sing to in the cave!
Once back on dry land we had lunch in a beach side bar overlooking the crystal blue sea. Refreshed and ready for more, we took a taxi up the hill to Capri Town.
The town is a rabbit warren of small streets all hiding expensive boutiques and swish cafes. You can pick up a Burberry handbag for a mere £450 and a cappuccino for just £5. If this is too much for your budget you could always take your own drinks and share the picturesque town square with the rich folk from the steps of the town hall.
The view from the town square stretches over the harbour on towards the mainland and is simply breathtaking.
All in all Capri is a great place to visit and could probably even stretch to a two day stay. We didn’t see everything we could have in the time we were there. It’s very expensive compared to the mainland and can get very hot and crowded in the height of summer.

Barrytoplis,
What does it matter to you whether I read other opinions or not? Actually I do, for the things I need opinions on. I don't always rate them, but so what. I you don't want to read my opinions then DON'T!

I'd just like to add that I didn't pay those prices. I'm just reporting on what was there. Do you think I'm mad??
Give me a 50p bottle of water and a great view any day.

Hmm as spacelamb said 'ouch' to those prices...that is ridculous, but if you think it's worth it than that's all that matters....
