Puggers Palenque National Park (Mexico): ... would be wrong to describe the Mayan ruins of Palenque as being off the tourist-trail - hundreds visit the atmospheric abandoned city daily, and the dusty, if convenient nearby town of the same name is unashamedly directed at visitors. However, tucked away in the southern Mexican state of Chiapas, it doesn t get quite the attention that the more celebrated site of Chichén Itzá so regularly courts. Those who do ma...

russellweekes Merida (Yucatan)
... by the cathedral in the spanish colonial style. A In the North of the town you have the opportunity to glance into one of the mysteries of the Yucatan peninsula by visiting a Cenote. A Cenote is a geographical sinkhole ( simlar to a very large natural well ), and you can have the opportunity to swim in this one, although the water is generally freezing as it is fed from an underground river. The opportunity to swim in amongst the stalactites is unique to Central America, and if you fancy a swim then should not be missed. Overall Merida is on the temple route, offering a glimpse into the Mexico that time forgot, so grab a taco and a cerveza and just sit back and enjoy....

Starlight81 Mexico City
... landed at Benito Juarez International Airport during the day, and was shocked by the sheer size of Mexico City- it is a massive urban sprawl, within which is a cluster of impressive-looking skyscrapers- presumably the financial district. Whilst this has apparently improved over the years, I still found the altitude affected me more in Mexico City than in other equally altitudinous areas, presumably due to the pollution. I really loved the city, and found it to be the most pleasurable place I visited whilst in Mexico, along...

My new flatmate took me to the supermarket, we stocked up and, the minute we stepped back outside the monsoon started. Every day for the next two months, like clockwork, it rained from about 2pm for an hour or so. And then it stopped. Autumn arrived, and with it, the dry season....
