Advantages: something for everyone; old or young

Disadvantages: i had to come home, mopeds

Two weeks ago I went to stay in the Resort of Sidari in the North of Corfu. There truly was something for everyone; long, clean stretches of sandy beach, numerous taverna's, cafe's, bars and clubs and a wonderful selection of top notch restaurants serving greek specialities as well as some more familiar fare including chips.
I went peak season (July/august) and although the resort was busy, many of the apartments are situated away from the centre of the activity which means that you can have a relaxing break but also go wild in town at night then take a short walk to your accomodation and get a nice, quiet good nights sleep!
Sidari also has many nice shops selling souvenirs, olive wood products, ceramics, clothes and alcohol. The huge supermarket in Sidari sells a wide range of foods, alcohol and household items for crazily cheap prices. I would reccomend you shop there instead of the smaller supermarkets lining the main street.
The trips that run from Sidari are also excellent and good value. We used the travel office in the centre of Sidari town to book our trips as they were cheaper than the same trips offered in the Thomsons excursion brochure. We went over to the tiny island of Erikousa for a day on a boat and, although our stay was short due to stormy weather (typical!), the island was clean, pretty and we also had a free barbeque. We also went to Corfu town on the "shopping by night" trip. Corfu town is typical of any city; huge, confusing and crowded. But take my advice and visit it in the evening because it is cooler, less crowded and the sewer smell isn't as bad. At night, Corfu town is beautiful, with the gorgeous fortress overlooking it (all lit up too). There are hundreds of shops lining the smaller (pedestrianised) streets away from the main centre and the traffic. I would stick to these side streets; the atmosphere is lovely, the cafe's are gorgeous and the shopping is brilliant.
All in all a great holiday.
I'll definately be visiting again.
