Cote d`AzurNewest Review: ... be described as budget priced and to be honest I would not want to stay here, it would be rather like taking your holidays inside a public aquarium on the day they gave the tickets away. There are however a few good places to eat but all expensiv e and my advice would be to eat outside the village. A good place to start your tour is the church of Sainte Claire a few hundred meters from the village this dates to the 15th century it is a pleasant small church but has plenty of free parking something you may not find closer to the village. You will pass the Col... more |

As you drive towards the picturesque village of Vence on the road from Cagnes-Sur -Mer the breathtakingly beautiful sight of Saint Paul de Vence will appear before you. Few are the people who could see this for the first time and not stop to gaze in admiration before rushing on intent on visiting the ancient village that has remained so well preserved for centuries. Saint Paul preserved so long by poverty is now one of the worlds biggest tourist attractions with 2,500,000 visitors a year. It owes much of this fame to the artists attracted here throughout much of the twentieth century. The artists themselves were as much attracted by the 300 days of sun a year ... The Cote D'Azur incorporates the best and the worst of France. Let's start wth the worst, and then we'll work our way inland and West to find the best. The Cote D'Azur (Cannes, Antibes, Nice, St. Tropez) is overhyped, overpriced and overpopulated, full of avaricious jumped up peasants and nouveaux riche dregs trying to get their hands on your money. Antibes is full of bars for English ex-pats of the lager lout type. It has the worst roads, drivers, and road signs of anywhere I've had the misfortune to drive in - and that's a lot of places, worldwide. It also has some pretty little restaurants, off the beaten track, the sea ... Read the complete review

Well I don’ t know really where to start…different sceneries, bunkers, local specialities, rally of Monte-Carlo, hill-walking, traditional festivals, waterfalls, and so on. I suppose I better start with the subject of this opinion: Ste-Agnes. I can tell you it is the highest hilltop town in Europe and is on the Italian border. You would have thought that The Cote d’ Azur would only be about nice promenades on the Riviera or showing off in St-Tropez, palm trees, privates beaches, sumptuous villas, casinos, museums, glamour from the Cannes Festival, gas from the Monaco Grand Prix or Rally etc…but not at all. It is also full of lovely ... Read the complete review

Antibes is one of several beautiful towns with superb luxury yacht harbours. In fact if I remember the blurb correctly it has the deepest channel so hosts the largest and most expensive yachts. But whilst the harbour is amazing, it was Picasso that drew me to the town. The Picasso museum is located in a castle in the old part of the town high above the Mediterranean. The galleries are quite small and have surprisingly few Picassos - but nonetheless if you are in this part of the world and like modern art it is a must. And that is because in addition to a representative sample of Picassos there is a fantastic terrace overlooking the Med with a number ... Read the complete review
