Czech RepublicNewest Review: ... car with useless camping equipment (which only took up room more profitably given over to beer, vodka and Becherovka) we strapped our bicycles onto the back. Mostly we drove somewhere, stopped overnight (or for 2 or 3 nights), and did day trips on our bikes. We did one longer ride, leaving the car at Dacice (fascinating small town off the tourist trail, but very pretty, handy for cycling to ... more |

After falling in love with Prague and visiting it several times, we decided to take a look at some of the rest of the country. So in summer 99 we packed our camping equipment and toured round, starting at Karlovy Vary, then heading south. We had a great time, and never unpacked our camping equipment once, as hotels were so cheap. One thing we noticed was that the countryside was beautiful, there were lots of little roads, and lots of people cycling. So, in summer 2000, instead of burdening our car with useless camping equipment (which only took up room more profitably given over to beer, vodka and Becherovka) we strapped our bicycles onto the back. Mostly we ... Read the complete review

Having gone backpacking around Eastern Europe in September 2001, I would have to pick out the Czech Republic as my favourite country visited (although they were all very good). The country seems to have a lot to offer for just about any kind of tourist, whatever age or budget. That said, budget really isn't something you'll need to worry about in the Czech Republic. Believe me. Me and my backpacking buddies visited Prague (5 nights) and Brno (3 nights) during our tour, and both were excellent, and different in an interesting way. Prague is very busy even in September, but still retains a friendly atmosphere not seen in most UK cities (anyone care to ... Read the complete review

Prague will really knock you out. In spite of the ever increasing hustle and bustle of the hordes of tourists which to some extent reduces the serenity of the city, I have no doubt that the majority of tourists will not leave dissapointed. I went to Prague as part of a small group of people a few years ago. Arriving in the city at the railway station in the spring without any accommodation booked, we avoided the plethora of people offering accommodation in their houses and made our way to the tourist bureau there. Not that I would necessarily discourage you from getting accommodation the latter way - I have got accommodation this way in Budapest without any ... Read the complete review

There are other places to see in the Czech republic than its capital Prague. I'm not saying that Prague is not beatiful and if you've never been than go ... But there are other places to see. Most peaple who visited Prague will tell you how cheap everything seems to the average British person. Well guess what? If you go outside Prague it is even cheaper. My favorite part of the Czech republic is Moravia. Few places you should visit: Kromeriz - a lovely town with a beautiful castle and awsome town gardens. Olomouc - town that's definitely worth visiting. lots of histirical churches and other baeutiful buildings. ... Read the complete review

This is a great destination I am bound to visit on business, and one which I am happy to frequent for pleasure. The first time, unprepared and dumped unceremoniously at the airport was a nightmare, I hope this helps to prepare you a little, as well as give you some idea of whats on the 'upside'. Firstly, the essentials: You must have a passport that is valid for 8 months beyond entry date if you are an EU National or from New Zealand, this will give you a 90 day stay. Visitors from the UK, Ireland and Canada are allowed a 180 day stay, where US visitors are allowed 30 days, and visitors from Australia have to get a free visa which is valid for ...
