Dalian ... Далянь) is the governing sub-provincial city in the eastern Liaoning Province of Northeast China. Dalian is also China's northernmost ice-free seaport. The second largest port city of China, Dalian is located at the foot of Nanshan Mountain on the southern tip of the Liaodong Peninsula. Affectionately called Dalian has a reputation for being one of the cleanest and most beautiful of China's cities attracting tourists from around the world.

I knew Dalian was going to be different as soon as I exited the airport to find my bag being loaded onto the back of an ancient, extremely dirty van which looked like it had just come from the nearest abattoir.
