Dubai ... other members of the UAE in that revenues from oil account for only 6% of its gross domestic product. A majority of the emirate's revenues are from the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZ) and, increasingly, from tourism and other service businesses. With enormous construction and development in various industries, Dubai has attracted world-wide attention through innovative real estate projects, sports events, conferences and Guinness records. However, this increased attention, coinciding with its emergence as a world business hub, has also highlighted potential human rights issues concerning its largely immigrant workforce.

Dubai is a fantastic city to visit and one of the most "western tourist friendly" destinations in the Middle East. Despite recent media stories which claim Dubai is falling to pieces as a result of the recession, as a regular Dubai traveller (I have family there) I would have to say these storys are largely a load of tosh. Dubai is the city of "The World's Biggest" and some of the most amazing modern architecture, shopping malls, natural desert beauty and glorious beaches. Dubai is of course one the emirates that make up the UAE (United Arab Emirates) and whilst it isn't the capital, it has the largest population. It's about 7 hours away ...  Read the complete review

Dubai is a city of wonderful buildings, beautiful beaches, wonderful culture, sumptuous food and the odd bargain! I visited Dubai on holiday with my family this july and stayed in the Metropolitan hotel on Sheik Zayeed Rd. We were there for a week and would definately go back. We thought it would be sensible to explore old Dubai first, and visit the Dubai Museum to get our bearings and see what Dubai was all about. The museum is definately worth checking out, where you can learn about the brief history of Dubai and see just how amazingly fast the development of the city has taken place. Whilst in old Dubai it is also worth visiting the spice and gold souks ...  Read the complete review

My trip to Dubai has been very different from any other previous trips I have made before. That was one place where I could not shop my way through (I was on a pretty tight budget!) but was instead faced with the charms and amazing architecture of one of the biggest cities in the world. Where to begin about Dubai? It can easily be considered as the Las Vegas of the Emirates- not because of gambling, but because all of the glitz and glamour of the city. We stayed at cozy hotel which offered us some activities that turned out to be the greatest adventures of or lives! One of the highlights of our stay Dubai was a fantastic desert trip. Ours was organized ...  Read the complete review

I have been to Dubai twice...and my experience to be there both times was really superb. The good things you would find there are excellent malls, like city centre, mall of emirates in which you would find ski-dubai which is much entertaing with its ice, beaches ,, water parks like wild wadi ,,desert safari, nice hotels like Burj al arab..,the longest tower in the world named the Burj..etc.. For ladies the most important thing to get along there is the Gold shopping,,i dont think you would find so much of varieties anywhere else with no compromise of quality,,you can find 24 carrat easily,, I am an Indian and although I have not visited any other country ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dubai- very overrated (309 words)

I`m afraid i`m going to buck the trend and tell you my opinion of Dubai. Me and a few friends visited Dubai for a week in March 2007 as a friend of ours lives out there. We flew out with Qatar airways (which is another story). We had high expectations as we had heard alot of good things about Dubai. Now if your after fake beaches, sun (its very hot), nightclubs, and shopping (not that much cheaper than UK prices) then Dubai is for you. Anything else then you`ll be struggling to fill your week. We went to Wild Wadi waterpark which was fun, but i`ve been to better water parks- kids will love Wild Wadi though. The shopping is average- i was quite disappointed. ...  Read the complete review
