Advantages: Great activities!!!

Disadvantages: Can be somewhat expensive if you don't know where to go

My trip to Dubai has been very different from any other previous trips I have made before. That was one place where I could not shop my way through (I was on a pretty tight budget!) but was instead faced with the charms and amazing architecture of one of the biggest cities in the world. Where to begin about Dubai? It can easily be considered as the Las Vegas of the Emirates- not because of gambling, but because all of the glitz and glamour of the city. We stayed at cozy hotel which offered us some activities that turned out to be the greatest adventures of or lives!

One of the highlights of our stay Dubai was a fantastic desert trip. Ours was organized by our hotel, but there are various independent tour operators whom you can contact to take you out on this memorable trip. The Desert Safari trip started in early afternoon and as one can expect, it during extremely hot weather conditions. However, we were warned to take some warm clothes with us because it would start getting cold as soon as the sun would set. During the Safari trip, our driver took us over some extremely steep dunes in our SUV and I must say, it is quite a sensation to tackle these dunes in a car! We kept bouncing up and down on our seats! Some places that we visited during the desert safari was a Camel Farm (we were allowed to pet and ride the tamer ones!). If it was one sensation to be tossed around inside a speeding SUV, then it is quite a different sensation to be on the back of a camel! A note of warning to those who cannot stand heights- my friend nearly fell of her camel because she started to get giddy at such a height! I fell in love with the camels, they kept looking at us with these warm liquid eyes and you feel like you want to spend the rest of your stay in Dubai petting camels! But there were lots of other things which have been planned out for us. When nighttime started to fall, we went to a Desert Camp where a real feast had been planned out for us. The food was delicious! We had an array of barbecue and dips and some local cocktails which were strong but marvellous! The main animation of the party was the belly dancing spectacle. Shakira would not have stood a chance in front of these highly-artistic, highly-talented dancers!

Other wonderful places in Dubai include the Spice Souk and the Gold Souk. These souks can be described as fashionable and exclusive market places. The souks are quite easily be said to be the major shopping trademarks of this City. With some proper haggling done, many people can come out laden with rarer spices and wonderful gold jewelry and ornaments. There are many other wonderful articles which can be found in these modern markets. I was personally impressed by the wonderful silk and linen cloths which were on sale. I would not describe the markets as the cheapest places in Dubai but the positive side is that by haggling properly and politely, you can get out of these with a lot of things at bargain price!

A couple more tourist attractions we went to include a mosque which was made up on lime only and the Dubai Water Park (bound to delight everyone who loves water like me!). We also boated on the Dubai Creek which is basically a creek that divides the city into two. In addition, those who delight in historical souvenirs, paintings and sculptures will really enjoy a trip to this museum.

Overall, this is a city which I would recommend to absolutely everyone. I would however advice you to book your trip via a travel agency to get the best of the extraordinary activities which is offered by Dubai.

Thanks for reading!
