Durban is situated on the East Coast of South Africa and is really a great place to go if you are a tourist - you get to see the true side of South africa and experience the atmosphere. There are many great places to go and to visit - The nightlife is quite good also.

If surfing is your thing or you just want to sit on the beach enjoying the weather and watching others, Durban then again is very nice.

I would recommend you staying in the North Coast of Durban, in places like Umhlanga or Ballito. I found that these places are very festive, plus you have got a HUGE shopping centre in Umhlanga, called Gateway. This is definitely the place to be if you wish on going on a shopping spree or even watching a movie. This shopping complex consists of 18 cinemas, plus an IMAX.
