The area around East London boasts some of the most beautiful coastline I have ever had the pleasure to visit, in fact right along from Durban, through East London, The Garden Route and into Cape Town you will discover sparsely populated beach after beach that you won't believe existed out side of picture post cards, look out for the various ship wreaks on the beaches. There is a pretty nice community just up the coastline from East London Called Gonubi but don't expect St Tropez! Situated on the South Coast of South Africa, where the Buffalo River runs into the Indian Ocean East London is the frontier to the Cape and the beautiful Garden Route. Unfortunately East London it's self is not really much to look at being mainly industrial - Mercedes SA is a major employer and a buisy port to boot. There is a small but very well stocked and run Aquarium on the beach front, home to the coleacanth - once thought to be extinct before a East London fisherman caught one several years ago! Now THATS a fisherman's tale!!! As is really par for the course in South Africa I would seriously suggest that us tourists keep well away ... Read the complete review
