I have been very lucky in that I have been scuba diving in many different parts of the world. The Red Sea and in particular Sharm-El-Sheikh is probably up there with some of the best. The first thing to say is that you can pick-up some great budget packages from the UK, just look in the back of any dive magazine to find some deals. ... Read the complete review

My original op on Eilat was written a couple of years ago following a 5 day trip with a bunch of friends involving us learning to dive in the Red Sea, relaxing in the pool and checking out the local hot spots. Looking back on my original review, it is horrifically dated and poorly written. Having just returned from another short hop to ... Read the complete review

Just after completing our Padi Open Water course in Scotland my husband and I decided to go to the Red Sea as we'd heard from other divers that it is the best place in the world to dive. We weren't bothered which part of the Red Sea we went to. We would've been happy to go to Hurghada or Sharm, however, we scoured the internet for ... Read the complete review

Eilat is the southernmost point (quite literally point!) of Israel, between the Negev Desert (in Israel) and the Sinai Desert (in Egypt). It is something of an oddity, or at least, I found it so, as it is a city which has sprung up in the deserts. From the Red Sea (one of the most famous 'draws' of the area) you are able to see the ... Eilat, is the glamourous holiday resort in Israel, situated next to the the desert, (similar to Las Vegas in that way)It is also next to the sea. Being Jewish, and with half my family living in Israel, I go to Jerusalem a lot, but i much prefer Eilat. Israel has a reputation, for having many orthodox jews and synagogues all over the place, but ... Read the complete review

My wife and I went to Eilat in February 2000 and were very pleasantly surprised by what we found. Eilat is very easy to find your way around, and the walk along the sea front is full of little stalls. At night the front is still bustling, with the stallholders, buskers, and people trying to entice you into the (wonderful) resteraunts. ... Read the complete review

Its many years since I’ve been to Eilat but I still have very fond memories of the modern Israel. I backpacked around Egypt and Israel and Eilat was my last port of call. As with all backpackers after three months of travelling I was broke, Eilat was a good place to find casual work. The thing that I loved about Eilat, which kept me ... Read the complete review

I went to Eilat over New Year a couple of years ago and loved it! The actual town of Eilat is not that nice, it's really touristy and is basically made up of enormous hotels. The beach is also packed with tourists and the markets sell all the same sort of stuff you can get in UK markets. However, if you want to get away from packed ... Read the complete review

We were glad to have a chance to relax after travelling all over Israel and taking in so much culture, so the thought of relaxing in the sun was very enticing. Our hotel was, well, American if you get my drift. Beautiful large room, with every facility you'd expect a la American, bathroom to die for, but the dreadful bright ... Read the complete review

Maybe that title is a bit harsh, but if you're looking for a big beach full of British tourists, then Eilat should be your first stop. Situated in the southern tip of Israel, Eilat is hot - damn hot! With all the pre-requisite elements of a touristy beach, as well as some stunning scenery and excellent snorkelling facilities, Eilat has ... Read the complete review

Now, I love Israel and will be back there like a shot when I can afford it, but there is something about Eilat that is so ordinary after the rest of the country which I found quite unnerving. I spent 10 days in Israel with my girlfriend and her friend in 1999 and it was the best holiday of my life. I loved how multicultural the country ... Read the complete review

When I was told that the family vacation was to Eilat I was unnerved at first, as I was worried about going to Israel following the Gulf War. But when I arrived I knew that I had found paradise on Earth. The climate was fantastic, warm all year round, and the changes in terrain from the Negev desert to the reefs in the Red Sea. Also the local ... Read the complete review
