For some of the most stunning and inspiring mountaineering opportunities and scenery the Khumbu region of Nepal is very hard to beat. It's also quite hard to get to as the nearest road stops a few days walk from the region. So, you've got two choices: walk in from where the road stops or fly in from Kathmandu. The latter is the more expensive but the experience of the flight in a rickety old Dornier is well worth it.
